Listening comes to mind in two occasions

When the subject of listening is discussed
When others do not listen to us.

Listening is integral part of effective communication.
Hearing and listening is different. Listening needs hearing and using brain too. Listening demands wisdom. It’s an active skill. There has to be a consign effort on the part of listener to group the ideas of the speaker.

Right prior knowledge a receptive attitude and rapt attention are essential for effective comprehension through listening
1. Develop interest in the subject
2. Have good eye to eye contact
3. Look for ideas of the speaker
4. Take Notes it forces you to Listen
